Meeting Monday Night Will Show Plan for Southpoint, Phase I

The Trust for Public Land (TPL) will present the current plan for Phase I of Southpoint Park in a meeting Monday night at 7:00 in the Good Shepherd Community Center. Phase I will develop the eight acres from the south end of the Renwick Ruin to the roadway just below the south campus of Coler-Goldwater Hospital. It will also stabilize the ruin. The design includes performance lawns adjacent to the ruin for performances and special events. The design is by Wallace Roberts & Todd, LLC, Landscape Architects, of Philadelphia. The southern half of the park’s length, below the ruin, could ultimately become a memorial for Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, under one plan being considered. It depends upon fundraising, however.
