Briefly

An exhibit of Louis I. Kahn's design for an FDR Memorial at Southpoint Park, prepared by Cooper Union, will be on display at Gallery RIVAA March 12-27. Representatives of the Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute told the Residents Association Common Council Wednesday that it will raise some $30 million for the memorial privately, relying on little or no public funding. In addition, the non-profit Friends of Roosevelt Island Landmarks announced it will undertake separate fundraising for permanent stabilization of the Smallpox Hospital ruins at Southpoint, if the Memorial project goes forward. A go-ahead for the project requires RIOC approval.

A new credit union is a step closer. USAlliance Federal Credit Union's board of directors voted last month to open an office here, probably in the former Montauk Credit Union space.
