November 1-14, 2004
Criminal mischief 11/1, Motorgate, 8, 688 Main St. Motorgate Manager notified officer unknown person(s) had broken into elevator room on 8th level. There was a long cardboard box in the room, which could have been used by a person to sleep. Officer checked with negative results. Follow Up: Sgt. checked motor room at 5:00 a.m., and all was in order. 11/11, Motorgate, 2-A, 688 Main St. Male from diplomatic mission phoned PSD, stated he had parked and secured vehicle on 11/10. Upon returning, he noticed interior of vehicle was in disarray, however, nothing appeared to be missing. Officer inspected vehicle, there were no signs of forced entry. Sergeant and officer searched Motorgate, and on same level noticed another vehicle with a passengeržs side window open, interior of vehicle was in disarray. Motorgate Manager notified, as well as vehicležs owner. Owner of first vehicle refused NYPD. Officers searched area with negative results. Harassment 11/4, hall, 560 Main St. Female phoned PSD, stated female perp, who is a neighbor, constantly harasses her son. This is an on-going situation between these neighbors. 11/8, apt., 595 Main St., Verbal dispute. Concierge phoned PSD, notified Duty Officer that two residents were engaged in dispute over one neighbor making noise at night. NYPD was refused by both individuals. Matter to be referred to Blackwell Management. 11/9, hall, 510 Main St. Female in-house, complained of having been verbally harassed and threatened physically for no reason by neighbor. Victim wants man to leave her alone, 911 was notified, officer prepared report. Officer searched area with negative results. 11/14, apt., 10 River Rd., Aggravated. Male in-house, stated male called his cellular demanding US$150.00 from victim and threatening him. Incident was the result of alleged theft from complainantžs place of employment. No further incident or injury occurred. NYPD responded, prepared report. Fire 11/8, street adjacent to 900 Main St. Officer reported fire in North Sector, all officers responded. Reporting officer noticed that a Coler-Goldwater bus was engulfed in flames, a large tree had caught fire as well, 911 was notified, FDNY, NYPD at scene. Bus driver stated he was driving bus when flames shot out in front of him. He stopped bus, looked under bus and there were flames emanating from under bus. Driver stated he removed all passengers. Sergeant from Hospital Police was at scene. Three vehicles parked at scene were also damaged. There were no injuries. Criminal trespass 11/9, apt., 10 River Rd. Male resident informed PSD there was an intoxicated male in his bedroom. He stated he went to throw out the trash, left door open, upon his return, he saw a male, who threatened to kill him, and who appeared to be intoxicated or under influence of drugs. Victim scuffled with the perp, who scratched him, but he ultimately pushed the perp out of the door. Officers searched for perp, from 22nd floor to lobby level, with negative results. NYPD 114th Pct. responded, prepared report and would refer crime to 19th Pct. Detectives. Victim was advised to contact NYPD if perp was seen again. Manhattan Park Manager was notified and was at scene as well. Dispute 11/1, street, front of 619 Main St. RIOC employee radioed Duty Officer there was a dispute at scene. All units responded to find both males leaving area. They both stated they had had a dispute over parking spot, and both refused to press charges. 11/3, lobby, 531 Main St., Harassment. Resident complained another female resident frequently slips notes under her door. When the former approached the latter, perp lunged at her, becoming belligerent. Complainant requested NYPD, they responded, prepared harassment report. Second resident was instructed to stay away from other resident. There were no injuries or further incidents. Domestic Dispute 11/2, apt., 516 Main St. Anonymous female phoned PSD, reported a dispute at apt. Officers responded to scene. Mother, son were engaged in dispute. NYPD notified, responded, prepared Domestic Incident Report. Son left apt. Elevator Out of Order 11/2, 7th floor, 540 Main St. Officer responded to scene with RIHM Super. Upon arrival, they discovered an underage youth was inside. Super opened door, removed child, who was all right and refused medical attention. Officer attempted to notify parents, there was no answer at door. Filing False Report of Crime 11/5, sidewalk, 560 Main St. PSD and NYPD sergeants and officers responded to scene for report of male with a gun. Female resident has an on-going situation with another resident. Male was searched by NYPD with negative results. NYPD sergeant admonished perp. Found Property 11/12, Octagon Park opposite 800 Main St. Duty Officer received found purse from RIOC employee, found at scene. Same contained various bank cards, SS card, and ten store cards. Chase customer service representative attempted to contact owner without success. Purse secured at PSD. Owner contacted PSD, stated she would retrieve purse next week. 11/13, adjacent to 560 Main St. Reporting officer was en route to PSD; and saw gold ring in a puddle on ground; which appeared to be real gold. It also appeared to be a manžs ring, same was secured at PSD by sergeant. 11/13, front of fire call box, 2/4 River Rd. Manhattan Park security officer phoned PSD, notified Duty Officer there was a suitcase at scene. Officers responded, observed an open/empty suitcase at scene with an ID card attached to its handle. Same was brought to PSD for safekeeping. Identity Theft 11/1, apt., 10 River Rd. Female in-house to file complaint relating to identity theft, NYPD notified, officer responded. A female has been opening new department store accounts for the last past five months. Matter to be handled by 114th Pct. Detectives. Investigation 11/1, apt., 546 Main St. Officer responded to apt., whose resident complained that resident in apt. above has for the past few weeks been making a lot of noise, moving unknown object across floor. Officer responded to speak with said resident. There was no reply. 11/2, rear 4th floor, 546 Main St. Mother of female underage youth phoned Duty Officer, stated the latter had left apt. without permission, (it is on-going), and due to the lateness of the hour reporter was concerned. Officers searched Eastwood, found youth, who was in good condition. Mother was referred to NYPD and PSD Youth Officers. Youth was turned over to father. 11/6, Motorgate atrium steps, 688 Main St. Officer received anonymous report of knife in a pool of blood in the steps surrounded by fish scales. Upon officer examining it, he determined that it had been left behind by fisherman. Officer checked the logs with negative results. Knife was safeguarded/photographed at location, should there be future report. 11/6, lobby, 625 Main St. Officer responded to scene for dispute. Concierge complained that China I delivery men ride their bicycles in lobby / hallways, causing scuff marks on floors/rugs. Officer spoke with restaurant owner, who stated he would speak with deliverymen. Concierge was informed of the above. 11/10, street, 530 Main St. Female in-house, reported she was near the front of RIOC red bus #3, which was in an accident. Although not involved in same, she fell backward when vehicle stopped short. Victim did not sustain any physical injuries; but feels very shaken and will see her doctor on Nov. 15. 11/11, Motorgate atrium, 688 Main St. While on patrol, officer observed underage youth playing alongside a seven foot wall in atrium. Officer spoke with youth, warned him of the danger, youth came down from wall. Upon returning, officer again saw youth climb wall. Youth ran into Gristedežs, officer caught up with him; and escorted him to PSD, his mother was contacted. Sergeant spoke with the mother about the danger of the child playing at scene. The latter promised to discipline him at home. Lost Property 11/8, Day Nursery office, 4 River Rd. Female assistant of Nursery School phoned PSD, stated they had had a fundraiser on 11/5 during which they collected US$400.00. During that time there were many people in her office to have documents notarized, etc. Furthermore she had made change for notary. Funds disappeared. NYPD was refused. Missing Child 11/3, apt., 560 Main St. Father of female youth phoned Duty Officer, said youth was missing since 11:30 p.m. He was informed by his friend who was in apt. at the time that daughter had taken some clothing and left; 911 notified, NYPD at scene. Father stated youth might be with neighbor, officer went to latteržs apt. with negative results. Neighbor informed father that youth had stated father had asked her to leave, changed locks. Search of island was conducted, also with negative results. Recovered Weapon 11/6, rocks, west seawall, front of 750 Main St. Coler resident informed officer he had seen what he thought was an automatic pistol in the water. Sergeant was notified, responded to scene. Upon verifying the afore-mentioned, NYPD notified, responded; requested Harbor Patrol, they recovered weapon (a Marksman Repeater BB pistol) and released it to PSD officer to voucher at 114th Pct. Smoke Condition 11/8, hallway, 540 Main St. Duty Officer advised officer the fire alarm system was reading žFirež at Apt. 470, and responded to scene where there was smoke in hall. RIHM Super at scene, a search of all apartments was conducted with negative results, with no sign of fire. Unsecured Vehicle 11/9, Motorgate, 688 Main St. Officer on patrol noticed a vehicle with open driveržs side front door and its window open. Officer checked vehicle for any damage or signs of forced entry with negative results. Motorgate attendant was notified. Officer closed door, however, was not able to secure window. 11/11, 5-C, 688 Main St. Office conducting patrol of Motorgate encountered a Suburban with its rear vent windows open. However, could not secure vehicle and informed Motorgate Manager. Vehicle Accident 11/11, Motorgate, 5-C, 688 Main St. Officer responded to scene, upon arrival, female victim stated that while parked at scene, vehicle at opposite side backed into her car; causing damage to hers. Other driver left scene. Complainant was only able to notice it was a blue SUV, and she refused NYPD at present. Officer searched area with negative results. Subsequently victim in-house, supplied PSD with description of other vehicle as being a Dodge Van with NY BAG 4477 license. Victim was en route to 114th Pct. 11/12, street, 200 Main St. Vehicle #1 had stopped for traffic at rear of Goldwater when Vehicle #2 backed up into the first vehicle, latter sustained damage to hood, front grill. There were no injuries, 911 was notified. 11/12, rear breezeway, 560 Main St. Officer observed car back into light pole, which sustained non-structural damage. RIHM responded to scene, stated damage was negligible. Driver and passenger of car refused medical aid. Both motoristsž documentation was in order. Vehicle/Pedestrian Accident 11/1, street, 530 Main St. RIOC bus driver of RIOC Bus #3 requested assistance. Upon officeržs arrival, officer saw a male bleeding from cut above left eye, and appearing confused, crouched in corner in front of 530 Main St., Furthermore victim complained of pain to his left knee and wrist. Female resident (witness) stated victim had stepped in front of the bus without looking. Another female and male confirmed the afore-mentioned. EMS responded, victim was transported to Elmhurst Hospital. Officer checked all passengers on bus, one female, who stated she had fallen to floor upon impact, complained of pain to left wrist, was examined by EMT, refused medical assistance. A female, who was with her son who had fallen, refused medical assistance on his behalf. Another female who also fell upon impact, refused medical assistance as well. At scene, FDNY Lt. and NYPD officer, and the latter prepared report. Verbal Dispute 11/2, sidewalk, 2/4 River Rd. Officer on patrol observed a male and female were engaged in verbal dispute over distribution of Election Flyers. NYPD officer responded to scene, both complainants refused NYPD report. There were no injuries. 11/7, apt., 40 River Rd. Officers responded to scene for report of verbal dispute between two males visiting a resident, who was not present. Both men agreed to stay away from one another and refused NYPD. 11/11, hallway, 556 Main St. Harassment. RIHM General Manager and female resident in-house, reported a female perp had encountered victim and verbally threatened victim. NYPD was refused. Water Leak 11/13, apt., 540 Main St. Officers responded to scene for report of water falling on kitchen table. Upon their arrival, leak had stopped. Neighbor had left sink water running, causing it to overflow. There was no property damage. RIHM Super at scene, who will look further into the matter.
