| ER - Sept. 1-15, 2004 Assault 9/2, apt., 531 Main St. Arrest by NYPD. Male phoned PSD, requested assistance, because female sub-tenant had thrown hot coffee at him, threw a kettle at him. PSD officers responded, encountered female perp in hallway in a state of great agitation! Officers tried to calm her, officers contacted Duty Officer to contact 911. Victim wants perp out of apt., and had cut telephone line into her room. The victim had bruise on shoulder, perp minor scratch on neck. They refused medical attention. NYPD responded, female was taken into custody by NYPD. Robbery 9/13, 10th floor hall, 546 Main St. Male informed reporting officer that two males had taken his money (US$300) at knife point while he was making a delivery. He could not identify same, they were wearing plastic bags over their heads! Perps fled south-bound. NYPD was contacted, responded. Officers searched area inside Eastwood 510-580 accompanied by victim with negative results. Latter did not sustain any injuries.
9/3, community room, 536 Main St. Officers responded to Island Kids officer for report of youths possibly trespassing. However, they did not find anyone at scene. But they found signs of forced entry, there was damage to patio gate frame, door handle/lock of locked storage room. Officer searched interior. Island Kids' Director, teacher notified. Both stated a stereo w/dual cassette and CD player (value US$30) was missing. Lock valued at US$30 was damaged. NYPD responded, prepared report. Apparently patio glass door had inadvertently been left unlocked by teacher. Trespass 9/4, apts., 10 River Rd. Male phoned PSD, officer responded for report of unsecured door. Upon arrival male complainant (#1), said unknown male (apparently under the influence) walked into his apt. and was leaning against the wall and left when confronted. Upon officer's arrival victim (#2) complained male perp had peeked into her apt. (was left unsecured.) Officers searched area with negative results. 9/12, stairwell A-16, 510 Main St. Arrest. Male RIHM employee in-house, reported male was sleeping at scene. Officers responded, confirmed the statement, male was escorted to PSD, issued "C" summons. Criminal Mischief 9/2, adjacent to Octagon Park, 845 Main St. RIOC employee reported that 25 sprinkler heads were broken in/and surrounding Octagon soccer field. He also stated he had seen homeless male in the area, and that workers think he may have knowledge relating to damage. Homeless man was eating in Octagon picnic area, was questioned and denied having knowledge of damage. RIOC employee stated that one or two sprinkler heads are normally broken on routine basis, but 25 was excessive. 9/5, apt., 560 Main St. Female resident informed officer that male resident informed her that male youth had thrown pebbles at kitchen window cracking it. However he could not describe youth. RIHM was contacted, Super notified, responded to apt., inspected window, which would be fixed next business day. 9/6, hall, P stairwell, 560 Main St. Male resident informed officer that unknown person was breaking windows at scene. Officers responded, and did observe shattered window. RIHM was notified. Officers made further search for more broken windows with negative results. RIHM Super responded. Update, 9/7: Reporter notified PSD again, officers responded, an underage youth was escorted to PSD. Officer knocked on reporter's door with no success. Officer phoned reporter and he hung up phone. PSD was unable to confirm if youth was actually involved in the incident. 9/7, stairs, halls. 560/580 Main St. RIHM Super in-house, said that unknown person(s) had used a projectile to put holes in glass panes in stairwells in 560, 580 and hallway at 560. Officer responded, confirmed the afore-mentioned and took pictures. 9/7, lobby door, 510 Main St. While patrolling, officer observed RIHM's entrance door had been tampered with; could not be secured. The lock panel was missing a screw. Emergency Service notified, and will relay message. 9/7, Motorgate, 688 Main St. Male complainant stated his vehicle had been parked for over a year at Motorgate. When he went to inspect it, he discovered that the convertible's roof had been slashed. Nothing was missing, 911 was requested, NYPD responded, prepared report. 9/11, sidewalk, chapel, 543 Main St. Officer responded to scene for report of graffiti on the "Bell." Upon arrival, officer noticed graffiti in red spray paint on the bell, brickwork adjacent to same. Officer contacted RIOC Grounds Supervisor. Disorderly Conduct 9/1, PS 217 grounds, front of 587 Main St. Arrest. Officers responded to scene for male taking pictures of the school air condition ventilation system. Upon arrival, perp was in front of two complainants, who were the reporters. They had asked the man why he was photographing school, he replied it was none of their business. Perp then tried to photograph the men. Officers arrived, asked perp his name various times, which he refused to supply. Male was placed under arrest, escorted to PSD without incident or injury and issued "C" summons.
9/4, hallway, 580 Main St. Officer responded to scene for report of bag of trash left at scene, inspected same, it was trash, and officer disposed of it. Officer had responded on 9/1 for similar condition. Victim said it was the third time that had occurred. Special attention will be given to the area. 9/12, 4th fl. rear elevator, 560 Main St. Male in-house, complained another male hit a cigarette he was smoking out of his hand at scene; he refused 911. Officer searched for perp with negative results, subsequently located latter, advised him to stay away from victim. Grand Larceny 9/7, Motorgate, 688 Main St. Male phoned PSD, stated unknown person had broken into his vehicle, stolen box containing stereo equipment which was still in its original box, equipment's value being at US$2,500. Two Motorgate cards were also missing. There was no damage to vehicle. Per responding officer, there was no forced entry. Victim will notify 911 himself. Domestic Dispute 9/2, hallway, 540 Main St. Female in-house, stated that husband (with whom she has been estranged) was returning their 6-year old at scene, when he began to use foul language towards her and attempted to strike her. Victim fled, she stated her husband got into his car, drove off; 911 was notified, responded. Victim stated her husband calls her apt. often to threaten her. NYPD directed female to family court. 9/8, apt., 625 Main St. Officers responded to scene for report of dispute. Upon arrival, female stated her son's father argued with her over child's diet. The alleged perp was in front of building upon officers' arrival. Victim refused NYPD, EMS, there were no signs of physical abuse. The man went home. Victim was referred to family court. Escort 9/9, apt., 625 Main St. RIHM Asst. Super requested officer to escort him to apt. The former checked intercom for short circuit in same, and found it in working order. Resident was not in apt. Apt. was locked and secured. 9/8, elevator-lobby, 688 Main St. Anonymous male reported possibly homeless male at scene. Officer notified Duty Officer, who responded. Officer spoke with the man, determined the latter was lost and trying to reach Roosevelt Avenue. Officer and Sgt. escorted male to subway after giving him directions. Found Property 9/1, rear of 543 Main St. Male in-house, stated he had found a blue bag on bench at rear of chapel that contained a camera, radio, and other misc. items. Property was secured in Sgts.' closet. Subsequently its owner in-house and signed for and retrieved his property. 9/11, bench, near 851 Main St. Resident in-house, turned in wallet he had found at scene, containing misc. documents (no money.) Owner of same was contacted, retrieved/ signed for his property at PSD. 9/11, chapel entrance, 543 Main St. Officer found purse at scene, contents: US$88.00, and other misc. items. Sergeant secured purse in Sgts.' closet. Subsequently female owner in-house, signed for and retrieved purse. 9/15, Tram cabin #2, 300 Main St. Cabin attendant phoned PSD, stated he had found a wallet at scene. Sgt. responded, reporter handed over a wallet that contained one school ID, three Metro Cards. Wallet was placed in Sergeants' Closet.
9/5, stairwell N-13, 560 Main St. Officer on patrolling the stairwells observed graffiti in stairwell, took pictures, notified RIHM Super. Hazardous Condition 9/2, Blackwell Park, 500 Main St. Resident informed officer underage youth had B.M. in bushes, and smeared feces on a "bouncing ride" at scene. Officer escorted youth to PSD. Youth Officer contacted youth's grandmother, who responded to office, retrieved youth. RIOC's Facilities Mgr. was left voice-mail message about incident. 9/6, playground, 500 Main St. RIHM employee requested that the Castle be cordoned off , because of falling bricks and cement debris. Sgt. was notified. RIOC to be notified by copy of investigative report. 9/9, J- stairwell, lobby, 540 Main St. Officer responded to scene for report of slippery substance. Upon arrival officer saw a container of liquid detergent at bottom of stairwell. Unknown persons had apparently poured detergent on stairs and landings. RIHM service was notified. Investigation 9/1, 1st gate, 281 Main St. Officer informed Sgt. that first gate under 59th St. Bridge was unsecured. The master lock was in locked position, but chain and lock were not secured. Gate was secured as best possible. A RIOC Maintenance Report was written, a new lock requested. Gate will be checked periodically. 9/1, 4th-floor AVAC, 540 Main St. Resident reported she smelled smoke, found rent envelope with small fire, extinguished same. Officer checked area, and saw no damage. Reporter refused further action. 9/2, patio apt., 580 Main St. Female in-house, stated she left apt. in morning, returned at midnight. Did not, however, look in her patio. In the morning she discovered patio furniture had been overturned, trash strewn about, but nothing was broken. Outer patio door does not have a lock. Resident could not wait for NYPD. Resident will contact RIHM to have patio secured. 9/2, breezeway, 580 Main St. Officer responded to scene. Female complained that unknown persons on 4th floor were throwing ice out of window. Officer was unable to ascertain location. 9/4, roadway, west seawall, 625 Main St. Female in-house, reporter said she was roller-blading north-bound on 8/29 at scene. She saw male jogging on lower walkway north-bound. Male made her uncomfortable, she had seen him twice. Then male approached her waving his arms, she lost balance, fell and injured her bottom lip, sustaining other injuries as well. Man assisted the female, helping her to regain her balance, assisting her to where her roommate was. The latter took her to Mt. Sinai Hospital, Queens, and transferred to the same hospital's Manhattan facility, where she was treated for her injuries. Male responded to Mt. Sinai to help if needed, identified himself as Rivercross employee. He stated he had no desire to contact aided. 9/7, Motorgate, 688 Main St. Motorgate attendant informed officer that male resident handed him a note that stated his car had been "robbed." And they had taken a TV and all the CD's. And that he could not wait for PSD. Officer searched Motorgate for other vandalized vehicles with negative results. There were several attempts to contact victim with negative results. 9/7, apt., 40 River Rd. Officer responded to scene for unknown condition; was informed by Manhattan Park's General Manager there was a dog in an apartment. Upon officer's arrival the Manager informed the officer that dogs are not allowed on premises. Male resident stated he was taking care of a dog while a friend is away. General Manager gave the male 24 hours to correct condition. 9/8, apt., 560 Main St. Officer and RIHM super responded to scene on behalf of concerned family member who did not know whereabouts of resident. The former entered apt., resident was not there, had been taken to Mt. Sinai on 9/7. Apt. was locked, secured. Family member was notified. 9/8, apt., 510 Main St. Male victim in-house stated male perp was harassing him. Former had allowed the latter to stay in his apt. temporarily, because perp was "down in his luck." Victim stated he and perp had argued, victim left apt., upon his return perp was not there, and latter had poured water on victim's computer. Victim left, subsequently returned to PSD, because perp was kicking his door, left but later returned to PSD, requested NYPD, which responded, advised victim to obtain an order of protection. Victim went home to discover the apt. door had been kicked in. Victim just wanted his lock changed, RIHM Super complied. Officers searched area for perp with negative results. 9/12, apt./front door, 555 Main St. Concierge of Island House phoned PSD, requested officer for escort to apt. that porter had reported having been open. Resident was not at home. Apt. was locked and secured. 9/15, sidewalk, 595 Main St. Female in-house, reported that unknown underage male youth had exposed himself to her. When asked why she had not reported incident immediately, not 1-1/2 hours later, victim said she was busy. NYPD was refused. Officers searched area with negative results. 9/15, Motorgate, 688 Main St., Lost property. Male in-house, to report unknown person had removed a cellular phone, valued at US$50.00 from his vehicle on 9/13. He also stated he had perhaps forgotten to lock vehicle's doors. Sergeant responded, inspected vehicle and stated there were no signs of forced entry nor tampering. NYPD was refused. Lost Property 9/15, front of or lobby, 546 Main St. Deputy Director responded to area in search of missing tote bag, that complainant's friend stated the former may have left in the area before going to Atlantic City at 9:30 a.m. Property Damage 9/15, rear lobby, 560 Main St. Patrolling officer noticed rear-lobby front-door glass was cracked, notified Duty Officer and RIHM Service Dept. Reckless Endangerment 9/8, parking lot, 2/4/ River Rd. Officer responded to scene for report of objects being thrown from window. Upon arrival, a Sergeant from IBSC Security reported that anonymous male stated items were being thrown from 11th floor, but had not been observed nor verified. Officer searched, but no items appeared thrown from windows. IBSC personnel will conduct frequent patrols. Smoke Condition 9/8, apt., 546 Main St. Officer responded to apt. for possible fire condition. RIHM Supers were at scene, reported it was a smoke condition caused by overcooked food in microwave oven, causing a severe smoke condition. Area windows were opened to dissipate smoke. There were no injuries nor property damage. Suspicious Activity 9/2, 36th Ave. Bridge, 688 Main St. Off-Island. PSD officer observed male taking pictures of Con Edison plant in Queens. Other officers responded. Suspect was questioned, escorted to PSD; 911 notified. NYPD responded, questioned, information checked, suspect released by NYPD. Unsecured Premises 9/8, apt., 576 Main St. Female in-house, reported youths were hanging out in recently vacated apt. Complainant stated she had called RIHM earlier, because patio door was wide open. Reporter closed same but could not secure it. Officers responded to scene, found remnants of cigar fillings in kitchen. RIHM service was requested, responded, replaced cylinder of front door, and secured patio door. Unsecured Vehicle 9/13, Motorgate, 4-A, 688 Main St. Officer on patrol observed vehicle with both front windows open, various CD's strewn on front seat, Motorgate card on console. Duty Officer, sergeant notified, latter responded. Vehicle owner traced, responded, secured vehicle, thanked PSD officers, stated all was in order. Vehicle Accident 9/1, ramp, 688 Main St. Officer responded to scene of accident. Vehicle #1 was struck from behind by vehicle #2, while waiting for bridge to lower. Both vehicles suffered some damage, with no injuries to drivers. NYPD responded, prepared report. 9/3, street, 694 Main St. Officer responded to scene, driver of tractor-trailer had backed up into a loading dock, which he thought was at Coler. Truck damaging movable stop sign which was wedged between truck's tires and trailer uplift gate. Truck nor sign was damaged. RIOC's Maintenance Supervisor was notified. Water Leak 9/1, apt., 540 Main St. Officer and RIHM Super responded to apt. for report of water leak. Lock was drilled, entry gained. Super found source of water, which was an un-authorized washing machine. Resident arrived at scene. |
