The Main Street branch
of the New York Public Library has voter registration forms on hand, and
staff members are able to help visitors register via the library’s computers.
Library hours are Monday and Wednesday, 12-8; Thursday 11-6; Friday,
1-6; and Saturday, 10-5; closed Tuesday and Sunday.
Residents can also use the library’s computers for e-mail and online searches, and wireless (Wi-Fi) access is also available in the branch. A wide variety of other services is also available: • Age-specific sections for children and teens • Movies (VHS, DVD) • Audio tapes • Easy ordering of books from other branches and the central library • Large-print books, talking books, and Braille books • Full complement of daily newspapers (and a WIRE archive) • Foreign-language books • Personal reading machines and TV-screen enlargers • Extensive on-line services, including (1) health
and medicine databases; (2) New York City services on jobs, day-care networks,
victim services, and volunteer opportunities; (3) practice
tests for professional and civil-service licensing tests; and (4) extensive
business-specific journals. |
