Criminal Mischief

4/6, hall/apt. door, 560 Main St.  Officer responded to scene, observed left side of apartment door had been knocked in sufficiently to show inside of door frame.  Victim reports she heard a loud noise early in the morning, discovered damage later in the morning.  NYPD was refused.  RIHM was notified, and door will be repaired.

4/7, Motorgate, 5-B, 688 Main St.  Officer responded to Motorgate office.  Male resident stated he had parked his vehicle at level 5-B.  Upon returning he discovered unknown person(s) had put crazy glue in front driver and passenger’s side locks.  Complainant said he had taken vehicle to repair shop to have glue removed without success, and he refused NYPD.

Disorderly Conduct

4/15, lobby, 625 Main St.  Concierge phoned PSD to report a dispute at scene.  Officers responded.  Upon arrival saw a male and female engaged in a loud dispute.  Both were brought to PSD, each was issued a “C” summons.

Harassment

4/10, card shop, 563 Main St.  Officers responded to scene.  Owner stated two female youths had entered the store using foul language, causing a disturbance.  They were gone before officers arrived.  The area was searched with negative results.

4/13, sidewalk, 560 Main St.  Male in-house, stated a male in wheelchair, whom he described, had verbally harassed him.  He also said it has been occurring for months.  Area was searched with negative results.  Complainant refused NYPD.

Grand Larceny

4/1, Child School, 587 Main St.  Female Vice Principal of the Child School informed officer of a possible grand larceny.  She stated she had spoken with music teacher on 3/31, who had informed the Vice Principal that he had noticed a keyboard (value US$2,000) missing.  Subsequently reporter left building, letting in cleaning crew, and 911 was notified.  NYPD responded, a male called PSD, stated that an amplifier valued at US$800.00 was also missing.  Report was prepared.

4/11, apt./hall, 625 Main St.  Male in-house, stated he had placed two gas-powered scooters (each valued at US$500) in hall in front of his apartment.  Upon awakening the next day they were not there.  Victim did not have respective serial numbers for the scooters.  He stated he would contact NYPD personally.  Immediate area was searched by officer with negative results.

Petty Larceny

4/10, Motorgate, 6-A, 688 Main St.  Officer responded, where vehicle owner was on scene.  He stated he had parked his vehicle on 3/27, returned to Motorgate on 4/10.  He found driver’s side front door unlocked and interior in disarray.  Vehicle’s radio/CD player had been removed and there was damage to console/dash board.  Owner informed officer he thought he had left the vehicle’s front door unlocked, and car does not have alarm.  NYPD responded, prepared report.  Officer checked other cars in area with negative results.

Fire

4/5, chapel, 543 Main St.  Officers responded to scene for report of a fire.  Upon arrival, they found a piece of smoldering wood that had been left on top of a radiator.  An officer and a film shoot production assistant removed the wood from the building, and officer extinguished the sparks.

Accident

4/12, crosswalk, 625 Main St.  Officer responded to scene.  Victim, Gristede’s delivery man, said he had been crossing street when he was nearly struck by a vehicle.  Victim stated he had run around the cart, leaving it in the street, which prevented the vehicle from striking him.  No injuries were sustained, NYPD was refused by victim, motorist.

Criminal Trespass

4/9, stairs B-14, 555 Main St.  Officers on vertical patrol observed a male sitting in the stairwell, and the light bulb was not lit.  Perp fled down the stairs, disappearing down the “A” stairwell.  One officer chased him, but lost him.  They searched the area with negative results.

Dispute

4/2, courtyard, 591 Main St.  Officer observed an underage male youth with a red face and crying.  Upon asking him what had happened, he pointed to another underage youth, stating youth had struck him in the face with his fist.  Both youths were escorted to PSD, where Sgt. and Youth Officer inquired whether he needed EMS, victim refused.  Mother was contacted, responded, she also refused EMS. The mother of youth #2 could not be contacted.  Subsequently, the Child School’s Executive Director responded, took youth #2 into custody.  Youth #1 and his mother went to Child School to discuss matter with the Executive Director.

4/9, library, 524 Main St.  Officers responded to scene.  They spoke with male victim #2, who stated he had been threatened by male victim #1, after the former asked him not to use cellular phone in library.  Ultimately matter was turned over to Library’s Chief Investigator.

4/9, entrance, 555 Main St.  Female youth in-house, said she had been punched by male youth.  Both youths were brought into PSD, parents notified.  Mother of former and cousin of latter in-house, where Sergeant spoke with youths.  Problem was solved.  EMS was refused.

Domestic Dispute

4/2, apt., 560 Main St.  Male resident phoned PSD, stated female was calling the apartment disturbing his wife.  Male (victim #1) was supposed to have taken care of their daughter (his daughter with victim #2) , and he had refused.  NYPD responded, prepared a Domestic Incident Report.

Escort

4/4, apt., 580 Main St.  Officer responded to scene, where RIHM employee met him.  Female resident had requested someone take care of her dog, since she was hospitalized.  The aforementioned entered the apartment, the dog had food and water.  The apartment was secured and door was locked.

Found Property

4/15, 36 Ave. Bridge, R.I. Side.  Officer found a mountain bicycle on the bridge and brought it to PSD.

Hazardous Condition

4/9, rear hall, 560 Main St.  Officer responded to scene, saw a mattress/box spring; notified Duty Officer, who contacted RIHM.  Super was notified.

Investigation

4/4, apt., 560 Main St.  Female resident in-house, reported that a group of youths had pushed and kicked at her apartment door, and when she opened the door to tell them to get away from the door, they hit her.  Complainant called 911.  NYPD responded and searched for youths.  Four youths were picked up for “frisk and question.”  Complainant could not identify the youths and her story changed often.  NYPD released youths.

4/5, park, adj. 500 Main St.  Three underage resident youths in-house, stated that while they were playing in the swings at Blackwell Park, another underage youth had bullied them and had pushed them off the swings.  Duty Officer advised them to go home and return with their parents.  Officer interviewed youth #4, who stated he asked the other youths how long they would be, and their reply was abusive.  He responded in kind.  Youth #4 was advised a report would be written and matter referred to Youth Officer.

4/7, apt., 510 Main St.  Underage male youth in-house, stated he had walked out of apartment without his mother’s knowledge.  Officer escorted him to apartment.  Mother stated she had already notified ACS, and case worker was on the way.  Youth Officer was notified.

4/7, east seawall, 576 Main St.  Officers responded to scene in response to a possible dispute and spoke to male resident; who stated he had seen a male on all fours on top of the fence and he had pushed him off to East seawall, where they engaged in a shoving match.  Victim stated the man took out a switchblade knife and he had run home.  Victim said the male fled northbound.  Officers searched the area with negative results.  Per reporting officer, the victim appeared to have been intoxicated.  He refused NYPD, EMS.

4/11, street, 609 Main St.  Female resident asked officer to accompany her to scene where her vehicle was parked to observe her van’s shattered middle window.  Victim requested NYPD to prepare report. Area was searched for youths (who had been playing in the area and could have inadvertently broken the window).  The search was negative.  RIHM employee taped up broken window.

4/12, Queensboro Bridge, off-Island.  Tram employee on Manhattan side informed Duty Officer there were two males, one female on the bridge who he thought were acting suspiciously.  Officers responded to scene, but they were gone on arrival.

4/14, card store, 563 Main St.  Female informed Youth Officer her underage daughter had had a verbal dispute with store owner over the exchange of an item that had been purchased in store earlier.  The money was ultimately returned to youth.

Menacing

4/7, hall, front of apt., 4 River Rd.  Officers responded to report of a dispute.  Female victim (#2) informed officer her children had been threatened by two male youths, when she and victim #1 went to perps’ apartment, a physical dispute ensued; perps. #1 and #2 grabbed weapons (#1 knife, #2 a pair of scissors) but did not use them.  NYPD responded, however, perps. had fled the area before their arrival. NYPD officer left message for perps not to return to the floor where victims live or to threaten victims’ children.

Missing/Aided

4/6, apt., 516 Main St.  Female in-house reported her eight-year-old son missing.  Duty Officer made the necessary notifications.  Subsequently youth was found in friend’s apartment.  The mother was escorted to PSD, because she was hyperventilating.  EMS, NYPD responded, she refused medical assistance.  Officer escorted her home.

Missing Vehicle

4/12, Motorgate, 7-A, 688 Main St.  Officer responded to scene, Motorgate manager informed him that a car was missing; same had been in garage on 4/9.  He refused NYPD report.

Property Damage

4/7, apt., 580 Main St.  Female phoned PSD, stated her door lock was jammed.  When officer arrived at scene, she said a friend had been staying in her apartment, and the key did not work.  He pushed in door damaging the lock.  He paid her for damaged lock.  RIHM super was notified and temporarily repaired it.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

4/1, school pkg. lot, 645 Main St.  Officer calls NYPD regarding stolen vehicle parked at scene. Vehicle had been reported by Board of Education personnel earlier.  Another officer responded, issued summons for No Parking.  NYPD sergeant at PSD at 8:20 p.m., confirms vehicle is a recovered stolen vehicle.  Several attempts were made to have NYPD tow the vehicle with negative results.  The vehicle had small rear driver’s side window broken, but there was no glass on ground.  Car’s registration, insurance card, and keys were in the car.

Smoke Condition

4/5, apt., 546 Main St.  Officers responded to apartment regarding smoke alarm sounding at PSD.  Upon arrival officer observed smoke emanating from under apartment door.  Resident answered door. Upon entering apartment, officer observed a pot burning on stove and removed same.

Unattended Property

4/7, front of Gristede’s, 686 Main St.  Non-resident male informed officer he was standing at scene with hand-held ordering computer (valued at US$2,000), he put it on a cement planter and bent to tie his shoe.  He was momentarily distracted when he saw his supervisor driving up.  When he went to retrieve the computer, it was not there.  Reporter stated he had seen a male standing nearby before he left computer on top of the planter, saw him again entering a gray SUV, and rapidly driving southbound.  A search was conducted with negative results.  Reporter stated he would go to 114th Pct. personally.  A PSD officer was assigned to check area for property with negative results.

Unauthorized Move-out

4/14, apt., 595 Main St.  Officer responded to scene.  Upon arrival, he requested RIHM super, who responded; he informed resident she had to obtain move-out permit, and she could not use the elevators.  Resident complied to the latter request, removed items from lobby, etc.

Unsecured Premises

4/11, Child/Legacy school, 568 Main St.  Officers exiting 580 Main St. saw three male youths in courtyard acting suspiciously.  Upon seeing officers, they fled.  Officers requested additional units at scene, they responded and an interior/exterior search of area was conducted with negative results.  There were sealed boxes of computer equipment in the building that did not appear to have been disturbed.  Child Legacy personnel was notified to send personnel to secure the door.  Executive Director of The Child School responded, searched premises, and door was locked and secured.

Unsecured Vehicle

4/9, Motorgate 5-B, 688 Main St.  Patrolling officers observed a vehicle with its rear door open.  They inspected same, contents did not appear to have been disturbed, and secured door.  Motorgate attendant was notified.

Vehicle Accident

4/5, front pkg. lot, 900 Main St.  Officer responded to scene, male stated he had gone to parking lot on lunch hour and noticed two scratches on left front driver’s side panel of his vehicle.  NYPD was at scene, prepared vehicle accident report.

4/14, ramp, opposite 4 River Rd.  Officers responded to accident at ramp.  Vehicle #1 was exiting the Island, vehicle #2 was entering, and struck the former when his car went into the wrong lane when it skidded.  NYPD responded and prepared a report.  EMS was refused by both individuals.  Both vehicles sustained some damage.  Driver of vehicle #2 was issued two summonses.

Water Leak

4/1, apt., 510 Main St.  Officer responded to scene.  RIHM employee was already there.  They entered the apartment.  There was no leak found, apartment was locked and secured.
