Criminal Mischief

2/21, street, opposite 40 River Rd.  While on patrol, officer observed that van’s driver side rear window was broken, and that there was a small hole in interior screen.  The vehicle appeared to be locked.  Officer could not ascertain whether or not there was any property missing.

2/21, patio, 580 Main St.  Female complainant phoned PSD, stated unknown perp(s) had thrown a beer bottle into the patio area, shattering the patio table’s glass top.  Officers responded, saw the broken table and beer bottle.  Resident informed the officers she had heard voices coming from the east seawall area, had dialed 911, NYPD responded and prepared a report.  However, she did not contact PSD.

2/21, apt. door, 560 Main St.  Female phoned PSD to report possible lock tampering.  Officers responded, saw the lock housing protruding from the door.  Complainant stated that upon returning to the apartment, she had had difficulty opening the door and phoned RIHM.  Maintenance man responded and fixed the lock.

Disorderly Conduct/Traffic Violation

2/21, street, 300 Main St., Arrest.  Officer saw a male driving a vehicle the wrong way, pulled it over, notified D.O. that violation had been issued; and requested his documents.  Perp stated he had none of the requested documents and was placed under arrest.  Other officers responded, perp was escorted to PSD.  Upon searching the man, officer found his passport, learner’s permit.  While officer was issuing traffic violation summonses, Sergeant informed him that perp’s brother was being arrested for disorderly conduct, because upon learning the vehicle was being towed, he became disorderly.

Grand Larceny

2/25, chapel, 543 Main St.  Female in-house, stated her purse was missing, that she had placed it on sanctuary table and covered same with her coat.  Contents of purse: US$100 (2x50), cellular phone, various keys (apartment, chapel, thrift shop, etc.)  She had then taken care of matters in preparation for the distribution of ashes at the Chapel.  NYPD responded.  All tours would be instructed to check locations for which keys are missing.

Dispute

2/24, street, 513 Main St.  Resident male in-house reported male and female engaged in verbal dispute.  Officers responded: complainant #1 said that complainant #2, who she stated was intoxicated, stepped off sidewalk into street.  Complainant #2 stated that #1 almost struck him with her car.  They both declined to take matter any further.  There were no injuries.

Domestic Dispute

2/19, street, 546 Main St.  Male resident in-house requested escort to his apartment to retrieve property from where he had been evicted by unidentified NYPD officers earlier.  Sgt. referred him to the 114th Pct.  Subsequently the man’s wife surrendered a back pack containing victim’s documents to him.  They were referred to court for Domestic Incident Report.  NYPD was refused.

2/25, 4th floor hallway, 560 Main St.  Officer on patrol came upon female standing in front of her apartment shouting at a male, and holding a baseball bat in hand.  Upon approaching the latter, he fled.  Victim stated the male had kicked apartment door, breaking chain, etc., and that he had threatened to assault and kill her.  (Female stated she and perp have a child in common.)  Officer gave chase, requested assistance, apprehended the male, escorted him to PSD.  NYPD responded, prepared Domestic Incident Report.  RIHM super stated damages to door cost US$200 to repair.  Perp. stated he would pay in cash for the incurred damage.  RIHM super stated he could not accept cash, that resident would be billed by RIHM.

Found Property

2/20, hallway, 540 Main St.  Female resident in-house, stated she had found a Siemens AT&T cellular phone in hallway near her apartment door.  Subsequently a Housing Management employee in-house, claimed the phone, was given his property, and signed for it in the log book.

Gas Leak

2/25, apt., 580 Main St.  While officer was patrolling, he was approached by RIHM super, who stated there was a gas leak coming from an apartment.  They entered it, super located leak in stove, changed gas line, locked and secured door.

Hazardous Condition

2/18, incoming lane, 36th Ave. Bridge, Off-Island.  Sergeant saw metal grating lifted at concrete level in the Queens side of the bridge incoming towards Roosevelt Island.  Officer notified “311” for Dept. of Bridges response.  Officer placed a cone at site.  In addition, at 7:04 a.m. Sgt. contacted DOT/Bridge Operations Supervisor, who stated a repair crew would be dispatched as soon as possible, and at 7:39 a.m. they were at scene.

Investigation

2/23, elevator/stairwells, 540 Main St.  RIHM service personnel in-house, reported having seen in elevator camera (at levels 19, 16, 3, etc. and elevator) a suspicious unknown female, spreading a white powder at aforementioned areas.  NYPD responded along with reporter to location, and did see the white powder.  Per NYPD officer, substance was boric acid.  FDNY responded to PSD.

2/23, sidewalk, 4 River Rd.  Officer responded to Manhattan Park management office for report of an assault.  Victim (underage female) stated she and another female youth had had a physical dispute.  Mother of victim stated she knew a relative of the other youth and would contact her.  Matter was referred to PSD Youth Officer.

2/24, apt., 576 Main St.  Female in-house requesting assistance to retrieve lost cat.  Officer responded, retrieved cat that was on outside ledge.

2/25, street, 400 Main St.  Female resident phoned PSD, said her underage daughter called a friend and told her she was being followed from subway.  While officer was speaking with reporter, the daughter walked into PSD and stated she was all right, and further stated she had called her friend.  Officer referred mother to 114th Pct., whose officer responded, and matter will be referred to Y.O.  This matter is ongoing.

2/29, apt., 560 Main St.  Officers responded to call of child being abused and thoroughly examined the child.  No signs of abuse were found throughout the child’s body.  Reporter stated she would contact NYPD on her own.  She refused medical assistance.

Lost Property

2/27, 4th floor rear hall, 580 Main St.  Officer responded to lobby for person yelling loudly, male stopped officer and stated he had left a backpack at the 4th floor rear hallway, containing his work clothes and shoes, and it was not there upon his return from walking with a family member from a rear apartment to the elevators.  Officer checked 580, 4th floor and stairwells with negative results.  Complainant refused NYPD.

Smoke Condition

2/29, apt., 540 Main St.  Officer responded to scene for possible smoke in hallway.  Upon arrival there were other officers at scene, opening hallway windows to disperse the smoke.  Smoke was emanating from apartment on fourth floor.  Condition corrected.

Unauthorized Female

2/20, 546 Main St.  Anonymous female in-house, reported that unknown female was asking questions at scene.  Officer responded, spoke with the latter, who identified herself.  Female stated her mother, whom she identified and gave mother’s apartment number and further stated she was vacationing, was a resident and that she wanted to stock her mother’s freezer.  The woman had left her keys in mailbox, which were subsequently found and brought to PSD.  Female further stated she had no identification and was not on lease.  RIHM super was contacted and refused access to the apartment and keys are being held until resident’s return.

Unsecured Premises

2/17, Lilies International School, 504 Main St.  Officer making exterior check of premises noticed that four windows on the second floor were open and one window was open on the first floor at the scene.  Second officer responded with keys to secure windows, and they were able to close the windows, but did not secure them as a result of either broken or missing locks.  Paul Hart was notified.

2/22, west side entrance, 537 Main St.  Rivercross maintenance man phoned PSD, stated he had seen entrance door ajar.  Officers responded, searched area, found everything in good order.  There was no sign of forced entry.  Contact person informed of incident.

Water Leak

2/17, apt., 555 Main St.  Officer and RIHM super gained entry to apartment for report of water leak after super had drilled a lock.  The latter discovered that a not serious water leak was inside bathroom wall, and same would be fixed the next day.  Apartment was locked and secured.  There was no damage to apartment.

2/18, apt., 555 Main St.  Officer and RIHM maintenance employee respond ed to apartment for report of water leak.  They entered the apartment, resident was not at home.  Leak was fixed.  RIHM employee replaced the lock that had been damaged the day before due to drilling.

2/21, apt., 546 Main St.  Anonymous female phoned PSD, reported there was a large amount of water in an unoccupied apartment.  Officer responded, saw water leaking from uncapped water pipe.  RIHM maintenance man explained that repair man should have left additional pipe that would have prevented leak.
