Assault

2/11, Off-Island, arrest by NYPD (not in PSD’s statistics).  Male resident phoned PSD, said his daughter was assaulted.  Officers responded to their apartment, and noticed bruises in victim’s face, eye, etc.  EMS, NYPD were requested.  Female said she and perp have had relationship for several years.  They were driving in her car in the Bronx to Roosevelt Island, they began to argue, and he assaulted her with his closed fist and open hand.  Perp drove to Roosevelt Island, parked car at Motorgate and threw her wallet, ID, cellular phone into the East River and fled.  NYPD located perp in 625 Main Street locker room, took him into custody, and transported him to 114th Pct. for arrest processing.

Criminal Mischief

2/2, street, 609 Main St.  Female resident reported she had parked her car at scene on Saturday.  On 2/2 she noticed the windshield on the passenger’s side had been shattered by unknown object.  Officer searched area for the object that had caused said damage with negative results.  Victim stated she would take vehicle to 114th Pct. and have them prepare insurance report for a vehicle owned by a handicapped person.

2/4, apt. door, hall, 546 Main, Graffiti.  Female in-house, stated she had found graffiti written on her apartment door.  Officer responded, confirmed same.  RIHM to clean up graffiti.

2/5, Motorgate, 7th level, 688 Main St.  Female in-house stated her car was vandalized while parked at Motorgate.  The driver’s side window was off track, and the door lock was open.  Complainant stated miscellaneous documents had been taken and refused NYPD.

Harassment

2/9, apt., 4 River Rd., Aggravated.  Officer responded to scene relating to a teenager’s calls to China One making food orders with the victim’s information.  NYPD warned youth and if it occurs again, he will face criminal charges.  Officer spoke with his mother.  NYPD at scene but had left upon officer’s arrival.

Attempted Grand Larceny

2/9, credit union, 559 Main St.  Female employee of Montauk Credit Union in-house, stated male resident deposited a Delta Airlines cashier’s check in the amount of US$7,550. between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m.  And after teller had given the man a transaction slip, he requested US$2,000 in cash.  The teller refused, and the man asked her to return the check to him and he left.  The teller faxed copy of the instrument to Main Office, they replied check was a forgery, perp had left.  Teller came to PSD, asked for report.  When she returned to office, perp was there, asked for paper work, and left with check and paperwork.  NYPD was called by Deputy Bryan, and awaited response by Detective Diaz.

Dispute

2/1, apt., 540 Main St.  Female home health aide in-house, stated she was locked out of apartment and needed to retrieve her belongings.  Officer responded to apartment; was told by resident that aide had left her alone for approximately eight hours and that her apartment’s keys were missing.  Officer escorted aide to apartment to retrieve belongings, aide denied having taken her employer’s keys.  Victim called the agency to verify aide’s employment termination.  NYPD was refused.  RIHM will change the locks.  Aide was warned by officer not to return to the apartment.

2/4, apts., 580 Main St., tenant.  Female phoned PSD, complained of ongoing (six months) dispute with neighbor, who bangs on her door and she thinks she is being harassed.  NYPD responded spoke with both residents, and advised complainant to go to RIHM’s Landlord/Tenant Court.  Victim stated she had spoken with RIHM Manager.

Domestic Dispute

2/3, apt., 560 Main St.  Officer responded to scene of dispute upon social worker’s call; female victim was naked on the floor and he covered her.  Reporter stated victim’s husband had pulled her from bed and assaulted her.  Although he has been verbally abusive in the past, it was the first time he had assaulted his wife.  NYPD female officer responded.  EMS responded and was refused.  NYPD prepared a domestic incident report.

2/5, apt., 560 Main St.  Officers responded to scene for ongoing dispute.  Female stated her husband is frequently irate and does not wish to assist his wife, who is bedridden.  Officer contacted a health aide organization, whose representative stated they would try to obtain a hospital bed for victim.  NYPD responded, prepared report.

Found Property

2/7, opposite sidewalk, 10 River Rd.  Officer on mobile patrol found paper bag containing wooden box with five piece cup set with its corresponding receipt dated 2/7.  Same was secured at PSD.

2/11, f/o thrift shop, 520 Main St.  Officer responded to report of suspicious package on bench.  Upon arrival, he saw a ripped open backpack with school books protruding from it, brought it to PSD.  Area was searched, youth (owner) was found at thrift shop, escorted to PSD, where he retrieved his property.

Graffiti

2/12, stairwells, 510 Main St.  Officer on patrol, saw graffiti at A-19, A-4 second landing down, conducted search for either person(s) or more graffiti to exit level with negative results.

2/15, stairwells, 546 Main St.  RIHM porter in-house, reported graffiti in stairwells, officer responded and saw graffiti in J stairwell, 5, 6 and 2nd landings, searched area for perp (s) with negative results.

Hazardous Condition

2/4, street, 40 River Rd.  Officer responded to scene, observed a wide, deep hole filled with water.  Area was cordoned off until hole can be repaired.  RIOC Grounds report prepared.  Another big pothole found at 625 Main Street crosswalk.  V. Kopicki and C. Rubino given copy of investigative report.

2/4, west seawall, 541 Main St.  Patrolling bicycle officer discovered uncovered large pothole, which had been covered by steel plate, that had been pushed aside.  Grounds Report filled out.  V. Kopicki and C. Rubino given copy of investigative report.

2/10, southbound street, 560 Main St.  Officer saw a square manhole cover marked “D.W.S.” protruding above the street, causing a hazardous condition, filled out RIOC Facilities form, notified 2300 x 0700 sergeant to monitor the area.

Investigation

2/8, men’s locker room, 250 Main St.  Non-resident male in-house, stated that while attending soccer game at Sportspark, he placed a winter coat worth US$700.00 (contents: victim’s car and house keys, cellular phone valued at US$180.00) inside a locker that had no lock.  Upon his return, the coat and contents were not there.  NYPD responded and notified victim they could not prepare report for missing property and that complainant should go to the nearest precinct to report his missing driver’s license and debit card.

Noise Complaint

2/9, apts., 580 Main St.  Officer responded to scene relating to frequent noise complaints.  Both residents requesting hearing with RIHM.  Matter referred to RIHM. 

2/13, apt., 560 Main St.  Officer responded to scene the first time, resident said she would turn down music, second complaint was made, officer did not hear loud music.  Complainant stated it was going on for four years.  Matter referred to RIHM.

Power Outage

2/6, elevator, 595 Main St.  FDNY responded to scene for person in elevator.  Subsequently it was discovered there was a power outage and PSD sergeant was notified.  FDNY removed the person from elevator.  RIHM super spoke with resident, who refused medical assistance.  Elevator #2 generator had blown, causing short circuits in building.  Russo Electrical company responded, lights and power restored.  RIHM general manager, etc. responded.  Con Edison notified by FDNY.  NYPD officer responded.

Property Damage

2/7, lobby door, 510 Main St.  Officer saw a crack on window on lobby door.  RIHM porter responded and taped it.

Smoke Condition

2/14, apt., 540 Main St.  Officer, sergeant at scene, and two FDNY trucks responded.  Female stated her underage son was watching TV and it started to smoke and burn.  No other damage occurred.

2/14, apt., 4 River Rd.  Officer saw five FDNY arriving at scene.  Female burned food while cooking.  There was no damage or injuries.

Suspicious Male

2/1, street, train station, 400 Main St.  Female resident in-house reported having seen Middle Eastern male in traditional black clothing and turban, taking photos of the Queensboro Bridge.  She stated she had observed male board the northbound Q-102 bus off-island.  Sgt. notified officer at 114th Pct.  PSD officer searched area for man with negative results.

Vehicle Accident

2/3, street, 559 Main St.  Officer responded to scene of accident. Vehicle #1 sustained some damage, i.e., left bumper had scratch of red paint.  Bus supervisor, Sgt. Wright checked buses #1, 2, 3, 8, did not find matching dents/ scratches, but did find them on vehicle #2.  Driver #1 stated he was sitting in his car when accident occurred but refused medical attention.  Driver of car #1 called 911, EMS responded, but the former refused medical attention.  NYPD responded, prepared report.

2/9, street/crosswalk, 510 Main St.  Officer responded to scene, saw two vehicles, one of which had a scratch on right rear (a van), the other was a bus.  NYPD, EMS refused, there were no injuries.

2/11, crosswalk, 543 Main St.  Female in-house, said she had been struck by vehicle that had backed up into crosswalk.  Officer responded to scene.  Victim requested EMS, NYPD, then refused the former.  NYPD prepared accident report.
