Assault 4/25, Gristede's, 686 Main St., Arrest. Gristede's employee informed officer there was a physical dispute inside. Two officers responded, found a victim and brother trying to attack perp with a bar. All parties were escorted to PSD. Victim stated perp struck him lacerating his head, neck and ear. EMS responded, treated victim. NYPD at scene. Perp stated that 2 weeks ago victim tried to fight him in subway station while brandishing a knife, but perp fled. Victim and perp were transported to 19 Pct., while victim's brother was issued "C" summons for disorderly conduct. 4/29, MandD Deli, 579 Main St., Larceny. Officers responded to scene. Owner said male had taken a beer without paying for same. Male became irate and threw the bottle, hitting owner on head and left eye with the beer bottle. Victim refused to press charges. Robbery 4/29, street, 625 Main St. Officer responded to lobby, male non-resident had several lacerations on hands and deep gash inside left side of mouth. He said he was sitting in front of building when male resident youth told him to stop talking to his family. The former returned with two other males, punched him, took his CD player and fled area. EMS, NYPD responded. Complete area was searched with negative results. Victim taken to Mt. Sinai. Two PSD officers went to perp's. apt., there was no reply. Criminal Mischief 4/2, Lighthouse, 900 Main St. Resident in-house, said several lighthouse lights were broken. Officers responded to scene, confirmed same, searched area with negative results. 4/7, lobby, 580 Main St. While patrolling, officer noticed that lobby glass door was cracked and notified RIHM emergency maintenance. 4/8, apt. bell, 580 Main St. Officer responded to scene for burned door bell, searched area with negative results. 4/10, 510 Main St. While patrolling, officer noticed a cracked window at B stairwell, between 1st and 4th floors. 4/10, Blackwell House, 500 Main St. Officer saw three panes of glass broken. Several officers searched interior of the house, found pieces of brick inside. RIHM employee covered windows with cardboard and tape. 4/14, Elevator #2, 580 Main St. Officer on patrol observed what appeared to be old burnt newspaper, scattered in lobby and in elevator, which displayed a small burned stain. Area was checked with negative results. 4/14, AVAC, 4th floor, 560 Main St. PSD responded to location for a possible water leak. Upon arrival PSD discovered smoke in the air, large amount of water and several plastic garbage bags, one appeared to have been burnt. RIHM super shut down the sprinkler. Large amount of water had leaked into apartment's 450, 452, 146, 148 and caused water damages. 4/16, Hallway, 625 Main St. PSD officer on patrol observed a metal bracket which secured window had been tampered with, allowing window to be open all the way. RIHM super notified. 4/19, Dwelling, 560 Main St. PSD received a call regarding broken window at 576 courtyard. PSD responded and found window to apt 560/150 shattered. Tenant from apt 576/114 stated she heard glass shattering and observed approx. 4- 5 youths approx 10-12 years old fleeing the area. RIHM super notified. 4/23, Bridge, 36th Ave., Off-Island. Victim stated that he asked his passenger to stop smoking inside the cab, passenger became angry, exited the vehicle, threw unidentified object at car, causing paint on right fender to chip. No injuries sustained. Victim will file NYPD report on his own. 4/22, Blackwell House, 500 Main St. PSD officer on patrol found several broken windows at location. Windows were covered with cardboard and tape. RIOC grounds crew notified. 4/22, laundry room, 560 Main St. PSD officer on patrol found a damaged wall at location. RIHM notified. Harassment 4/14, Dwelling, 560 Main St. Victim stated she has been receiving harassing phone calls. PSD and NYPD filed report, victim will contact phone company. 4/18, Sidewalk, 560 Main St. Reporter stated that her daughter was upset due to being harassed by unknown perp. Victim stated that unknown female stated to her that she is indecent due to the clothing she is wearing. Victim was advised that if she is harassed by this individual again to contact PSD immediately. 4/18, Dwelling, 546 Main St. Victim stated to PSD officer that she is being harassed by listed perp. Victim stated that he pushed her against wall and began mumbling to her. Victim stated this has happened several times and she will contact RIHM on her own. 4/27, apt., 4 River Rd. Officer responded to apt. where woman stated nephew had pushed and kicked her on chin because she did not accept a pkge. for him at her apt. He also kicked her on street while he was riding a moped. EMS responded, transported victim to hospital since she is 5 mo. pregnant. NYPD prepared domestic incident report. 4/29, hallway, 580 Main St. Officers responded to scene of dispute. Upon arrival, female said her daughter was arguing with her. The daughter involved another female, who stated she would assault her. Mother did not let daughter go out of apt. NYPD responded, prepared report. Larceny 4/18, Tram Area, 300 Main St. Reporter stated to PSD officer that unknown person had broken the hasp and removed the pad lock off the coca-cola machine at location. Reporter stated that $300.00 was missing. Tapes have been secured pending viewing by PSD and Coca-Cola personnel. 4/29, 540 Main St. Officer responded to apt., tenant stated she had had installed a door bell outside apt. door, because RIHM one was too low. By 7 p.m. someone had taken it. Aggravated Harassment 4/4, Library, 524 Main St. Librarian in-house, said unknown females have called library three times, using foul language towards one of the employees. Librarian contacted special investigations officer. NYPD responded, prepared report. Assisted NYPD 4/1, Motorgate office, 688 Main St. NYPD (20th Pct.) Detective in-house, requested assistance in arresting Motorgate employee for unlawful imprisonment of female friend. PSD officers responded, NYPD detective apprehended male. There were no injuries or property damage. A vehicle was confiscated as well. Dispute 4/8, apt., 560 Main St. Officers responded to scene of verbal dispute between two males. Female reporter stated one of the men had invited the other outside so they could fight. Upon officers' arrival the perp left area. 4/21, Street, 599 Main St. Officer on patrol responded to a noise complaint call at listed location. Upon arrival officer found the victim and perp engaged in a dispute. Perp left scene. Victim stated that the argument stems from perp stealing two beers from the supermarket two weeks in the past and victim reported to his manager. Victim stated perp did confront him with a knife at the subway, NYPD report was filed previously by victim. 4/23, Dwelling, 555 Main St. Victim reported her boyfriend struck her twice in the chest and once in the face. EMS and NYPD responded, victim refused transport to hospital and refused to press charges. Domestic report filed by NYPD. 4/23, Dwelling, 555 Main St. Victim reported his girlfriend scratched his chest causing some bruises. EMS and NYPD responded and took report. 4/10. Blackwell Park, 500 Main St. Male informed officer he was playing basketball with youth and they got into verbal dispute. The youth left and returned with 15 youths, who approached victim and one of them punched him in face, victim could not ID him. Victim started towards PSD. Youth (with whom he was playing) was escorted to PSD. His mother was in-house, youth released to her. Youth had scratches on upper lip and on wrist. Mother refused medical assistance. Found Property 4/1, front of 400 Main St. Unknown couple gave officer a black bag they had found in front of subway station containing video recorder, tapes, 2 rolls film. Sgt. called contact number, left message, bag placed in locked cabinet. Owner to pick it up. 4/3, street, 527 Main St. Unknown male surrendered black wallet with several items of identification, and misc. other cards. Sgt. secured wallet, contacted owner to pick up his property. 4/20, Subway, 400 Main St. Transit employee advised PSD that he had found a wallet which contained Id card, S.S. card, Museum Card. Owner was contacted and property was returned. 4/12, bus #1, 400 Main St. RIOC bus driver surrendered a cellular phone to Sgt. , who secured same at PSD. A few minutes later owner retrieved said property and verified ownership by calling phone number. 4/29, apt., 580 Main St. Maintenance employee in-house, turned in wallet of island resident containing US$10, credit cards and other miscellaneous items. Wallet secured at PSD. Graffiti 4/1 A door, walls 510 Main St. 4/1 halls, elev. 510, 546, 580 4/10 Q 7 560 Main St. 4/11 S 10 580 Main St. 4/15 Hallway 546 Main St. 4/20 Subway Plaza 400 Main St. 4/22 benches rear of 560 Main 4/22 Stairwell 560 Main St. 4/24 C-7, J-4 510/546 4/25 M-4 and front of apt. 546 Main Hazardous Condition 4/10, tennis bubble, 281 Main St. RIOC facilities supervisor informed officer debris (which consisted of dirt, water, metal pieces and bolts) was falling from the 59 St. Bridge. Dept. of Transportation (DOT) Operations, Goldwater Hospital police were notified. There was personnel from two blue trucks, which appeared to be cleaning drainage pipes, which PSD Sgt. confirmed. The debris stopped falling. There were no injuries or damage to property. On 4/10, an engineer in charge of bridges, DOT, responded to scene to investigate the condition. 4/16, Lobby door, 540 Main St. Reporter stated lobby door was broken. Officer checked and observed top hinge had came off and door was lying against frame. RIHM notified. Investigation 4/2, store, 544 Main St. Officer responded to scene, where store clerk stood, he pointed out several youths. He stated he did not want them in the store unless accompanied by guardian. 4/3, 5-B, 688 Main St. Male in-house, said he had parked his vehicle at Motorgate, upon returning, he noticed passenger side mirror was missing, refused NYPD. Officer searched area with negative results. 4/7, west seawall, 555 Main St. Resident youth in- house, reported he had been approached by unknown perp who asked victim if he remembered him and proceeded to blow smoke in his face and as youth walked away he was struck by brick on his shoulder, from which he suffered no injury. Also per youth, some other bricks and a metal canister were also thrown, which came from a dumpster in area. 4/11, Motorgate, 688 Main St. While at Motorgate on an unrelated matter, officer noticed bubble/camera at 7 B level, was missing. He searched area with negative results. 4/14, sidewalk front of 563 Main St. PSD officer on patrol observed a water bottle thrown out of window from Island House. Listed witness stated he saw bottle come from a window on the 7th fl. Officer observed a female youth at said window. Officer spoke with tenant who stated the bottle was not thrown from his window. Matter referred to RIHM. 4/15, Youth Center, 506 Main St. Reporter notified PSD that alarm was ringing at location. PSD officers responded with NYPD and conducted a search, all appeared in order. 4/15, street front of 10 River Road. PSD officer found youth unattended walking around slapping parked cars. Search was conducted for youth's parents. Anonymous female stated youth lived at 30 River Road. PSD officers responded to location and found youth's 6-year-old sister. Concierge verified youth's address. PSD officer returned both children. The father stated that the children were supposed to be with mother at neighbor's apt. 4/24, east river, 400 Main St., Off-Island. Officer observed NYPD, aviation and harbor patrol in area. He learned that a dispute had occurred on the bridge and a person might have jumped. There was no involvement with island property or personnel. 4/25, M-3, 546 Main St. Resident in-house, complained that during various hours of day/night, several youths loiter in M-3, smoking controlled substances and being disorderly. Sgt. advised complainant that increased patrols would be ordered. 4/27, street, 595 Main St. Underage female youth in- house, reported that a male stopped his car, asked them (she and male youth) to get in the car, to which they replied no, as they passed car it backed up hitting the girl. Driver exited car gave them business card that he would buy anything they wanted. Then entered vehicle and drove southbound, officer searched area as did 3 officers, stopped all vehicles. NYPD responded. EMS transported youth to hospital. Lift Job 4/8, Elevator, 560 Main St. Handicapped female reported that elevator was disabled at 10 floor and that she lived on 13 floor. Elevator repair service on hand. Several officers responded. RIHM Mgr. aware of situation. Two RIHM employees lifted woman and took her to her apt. Subsequently repair service fixed elevator. Lost Property 4/4, Tram cabin, Off-Island. Resident phoned, said she had lost cellular phone (valued at $199) on Manhattan side. She had subsequently contacted Tram personnel when she discovered it. Tram employees checked both sides of tram route with negative results. 4/5, apt., 560 Main St. Male in-house said he had lost his scooter, did not know where. 4/13, Street, 400 Main St. Reporter stated he lost his wallet, containing $50. US dollars, ID card and several credit cards. Search conducted with neg results. Three hours later reporter notified PSD that wallet had been found. 4/17, Gristede's, 686 Main St. Reporter stated to PSD officer that a female shopper reported to him that while food shopping she walked away from her shopping cart leaving her small dark purse unattended. Upon returning she discovered that her purse which contained $30. US dollars was missing. She also stated that she believes a store employee removed it since he was the only person working in the aisle. Victim had left store prior to PSD arrival. Missing Person 4/11, 688 Main St. Off-Island detective informed Sgt. of missing person (since 12/24/00 who and lives in Bklyn., 79 Pct.) who had possibly come to Goldwater to see woman friend, driving a '90 Pontiac. They searched Motorgate for car, with negative results. Missing Property 4/9, apt., 551 Main St. Female phoned PSD, said her wallet containing US$680, 2 bank cards, etc., was missing from her jacket. She further stated she locked the door and her niece and 2 friends were visiting. There were no signs of tampering on door and no one saw any other person take wallet. NYPD responded, prepared report. Noise Complaint 4/18, Dwelling, 555 Main St. Reporter notified PSD of noise complaint coming from above tenant causing him and his family to stay awake during the night. PSD officer responded to apt and spoke with tenant who lowered the music. Property Damage 4/9, dumpster area, 625 Main St. Driver of NYC Sanitation truck dropped a container at scene, damaging the surrounding gate. RIHM Gen'l. Mgr. and Super were at scene. Sanit. Dept. Field Mgr. responded and left Accident Report and Claim Form for RIHM to file. 4/21, school, 566 Main St. Anonymous caller reported youths entering listed location. PSD responded and found side door unsecured as well as a broken glass. Search conducted with neg results. School was temporarily secured by PSD. Reckless Endangerment 4/13, Street, 510 Main St. Reporter stated while walking past location unknown person threw a bat out a window, which fell a few feet from her. PSD officers responded and conducted a search with neg results. Bat was retrieved from scene and secured at PSD. Reporter was unable to identify from which window bat was thrown. 4/26, upper fl., 510 Main St. Central received several phone calls, complaining that phone books were being thrown from an upper floor at 510. Officer did see phone books falling from upper floor, but could not ascertain which floor it was. Officers checked all upper floors, stairwells, roof with negative results. Officer remained in area for an hour and there were no further incidents. RIHM superv. informed. Smoke Condition 4/3, sidewalk, 552 Main St. Officer observed smoke emanating from underground transformer, notified 911. FDNY responded, Chief examined transformer which did not have signs of fire or damage. FDNY will contact Con Edison. Stuck Elevator 4/22, lobby, 560 Main St. PSD officers responded to location for a stuck elevator, elevator's recall switch was in fireman service, officer switched it to normal, tenants were evacuated safely no injuries reported. Theft of Service 4/27, restaurant, 532 Main St. Officer responded to scene, apprehended 2 females who employee identified as having committed theft of service but then refused to press charges. Unsecured Premises 4/20, Chinese Restaurant, 609 Main St. Officer conducting a storefront check, discovered the door to listed location unsecured. PSD Sgt. responded and conducted an interior check with Officer. Owner contacted and responded to scene, confirmed all in order. Store secured by owner. Vehicle Accident 4/7, street, 507 Main St. Male phoned PSD, said he had returned to his vehicle and saw scrapes to front bumper and to the top of front hood, 911 was called for NYPD. 4/16, Parking lot, 300 Main St. (leaving the scene). Victim stated that unknown perp driving a black Toyota ran into his motorcycle parked in the parking lot, causing damages, he also stated he observed vehicle backing up into vehicle prior to fleeing the scene. No injuries reported. NYPD responded and filed a report. Water Leak 4/4, apt., 546 Main St., Officer responded to scene for possible water leak, RIHM serviceman responded, drilled lock and found toilet running, because of a water leak. Condition was corrected, apt. secured.
