Many Island Artists Joining in Many Islanders have already signed up to participate, and the list is growing. Visitors to the ArtFrenzy affair will be able to board special buses on Roosevelt Island, leaving and returning to them at multiple event-locations in Queens. Among the Islander exhibits are a visual-cum-audio presentation by J.J. di Salvo called La Vie Plastique, a view of human history as seen through the eyes of Aliens. There will be a video art presentation by Gavin Grace. The Island's professional artists will exhibit collages, sculpture, large and small paintings and drawings, ceramic art and photography. In addition there will be a special gallery for emerging artists. All the art will be on exhibit at PS/IS 217 on Saturday and Sunday, May 19 and 20. An architect will have transformed the school into a performance and exhibition space. There will also be ongoing presentations by musicians, actors, dancers and other performance artists. Pianist Roy Eaton is giving a recital (mainly Chopin and Joplin). Irene Clark will perform a movement piece in the schoolyard, interpreting the large sculpture there. She will also do dance interpretations of the paintings, guiding viewers through the exhibits. Those interested in exhibiting should call 613-0006 and leave a message.
