Mac Club Starting

A pair of Roosevelt Islanders are starting a club for Mac computer users. John Miller and Vincent Bombes say their first meeting will be held Tuesday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m., and that PC users and off-Islanders are welcome, too.

The Roosevelt Island Youth Program is providing space for the meetings of the group, which is called RIMAC, for Roosevelt Island Mac'Apple Community. It is intended to be a non-commercial mutual support operation helping from beginner to advanced, according to Miller. He says two dozen people have expressed interest.

Training will be done through CD-ROM for various software programs, and the group will share tech-support and tutoring services. A volunteer tech support person will answer questions at general meetings, currently planned for about once a month, subject to member preferences.
