Criminal Mischief

12/4, 4th floor, 546 Main St., Officer noticed hole in wall, searched area for perps with negative results, took photo of damaged wall.

12/7, 576 Main St., RIHM service personnel informed officer that Porter's Room had been broken into, room was searched, it could not be ascertained if anything was missing. Door was secured.

12/8, 3-B, 688 Main St., Resident in-house, said he had parked his vehicle on 12/7 at Motorgate and noticed it had been struck on front driver's side upon leaving for work, searched area with negative results.

12/8, lobby, 540 Main St., Officer was notified lobby window was cracked by RIHM super, who with employee searched area with negative results, and taped up window.

12/9, laundry, 576 Main St., Officer and RIHM super responded to scene of 2 broken washers, coin slots located behind washers, could not determine if any money was removed. Sebco notified.

12/10, 7th floor, 560 Main St., Officer noticed shattered window, notified RIHM. Officer searched area with negative results.

12/11, 580 Main St., Resident female phoned PSD, said she had smelled something burning, opened door and saw apartment door bell had been burned. Officer searched area with negative results. RIHM notified.

12/13, hall windows, 540 Main St., Officer noticed 36 hallway windows had been scratched with an unknown object, searched area with negative results.

12/14, 560 Main St., RIHM general manager in-house, because she'd been informed by resident that non-resident male had kicked door, causing small dent at bottom. NYPD responded, prepared report. 12/14, 625 Main St., Officer responded to playroom, resident said she'd heard noise when object had shattered window, but could not see anyone because it was too dark outside. Officers spoke with concierge who said there had been a similar incident on 12/12, when three youths had thrown rocks at scene. One officer stayed at scene and conducted search of area with negative results.

Trespass

12/11, 4th floor, 580 Main St., Officer responded to scene, found underage youth at location during school hours, brought him to PSD, notified grandmother who was en route. Youth issued juvenile report.

12/11, C-10, 625 Main St., Arrests, Officer responded to call from concierge for report of youths sleeping at scene, where he saw one male, one resident female sitting on steps. They were escorted to PSD, each issued a C summons, released.

12/13, 546 Main St., Arrest, Officer responded to Senior Citizens' Community Room, where they saw male resident, escorted him to PSD, issued him a C summons, released him. Informed him not to trespass. NYPD at scene.

Harassment

12/4, Street/lobby, 560 Main St., Cross Complaint, Resident female in-house, stated that on 11/29 an underage boy, with whom her son had been friends, but is no longer, had struck her son twice with his shoulder and her son had retaliated by hitting him in back of the head with his hand. Woman stated she would go to 114 Pct. to register a complaint.

12/10, 545 Main St., Underage youth in-house with mother who stated 2 youths playing behind gated area had kicked ball out, another youth was about to kick ball back, when male resident said to let him kick it, which he did striking third youth in leg. Youth asked him why'd he'd done that, male then approached 2 other youths and threw cigarette at them. No injuries were incurred. NYPD responded, spoke with youths' parents, did not prepare report.

12/11, Main Street, Unknown female informed officer that resident male had harassed her, by displaying offensive hand gestures, did not provide any other information and boarded 102 bus. Officers searched area with negative results.

12/12, Gristede's, 686 Main St., Arrests, Officer responded to call from G's employee, that guard and reporter told her store was closed and she entered store. The female and guard engaged in physical altercation. Officers escorted them to PSD, where they were issued "C" summonses and released. NYPD on scene.

Disabled Vehicle

12/11, ramp, 688 Main St., Officer responded to scene for a disabled vehicle on ramp, which could not be moved. Towing service removed same.

Found Property

12/10, Bus #3, 546 Main St.l, Bus driver surrendered knapsack containing 7 cans of Ensure and several documents. PSD tried to contact owner with negative results. Knapsack secured at PSD.

Graffiti

12/2, 546 Main St., Officer observed graffiti at K 10, V 7-4.
12/5, 560 Main St., Officer saw graffiti at Q 1 and 4.
12/9, 560 Main St., Officer noticed graffiti at W 4, B 4.
12/13, 580 Main St., Officer observed graffiti at V 4.
12/13, 580 Main St., Officer saw graffiti inside elevator door.
12/14, 546 Main St., Officer noticed graffiti at M-3.

Hazardous Condition

12/4, Post #1, 688 Main St., Officer noticed that overhead light fixture was hanging by wire. RIOC's grounds notified and removed fixture.

Investigation

12/1, Adjacent to 400 Main St., Female in-house, said on 11/28, she'd gotten off bus and had tripped and fallen upon tripping over metal flanges. Witness stated she complained of nausea, pain and dizziness and he'd taken her to doctor. Officer responded to scene and took photos. RIOC personnel advised.

12/5, 532 Main St., Underage youth in-house screaming that he saw male against whom he has order of protection at scene. Officers responded, escorted perp to PSD. NYPD responded. Perp violated said order on 12/3. Detectives spoke with youth's mother, youth and perp and let perp go.

12/8, 560 Main St., Resident known to PSD spoke with Director regarding four youths being left unsupervised into evening hours and that youths go to resident's apartment to eat. Officers responded to apartment, mother and 2 underage daughters in apartment. Officers notified Agency for Children's Services, contacted 114 Pct., spoke with Youth Officer.

12/13, 510 Main St., Male resident in-house said he'd left apartment in afternoon, upon returning, chain was on door. Officers responded, knocked on door with no response. Officer leaned on door, causing it to bend. RIHM service personnel was informed of damaged door.

Missing Person

12/9, Lenox and 125 St., off-Island, 911 Operator phoned PSD, said she'd received call from Roosevelt Island resident, employer of male, who suffers from dizzy spells. PSD, NYPD conducted Island-wide search with negative results.

Missing / Runaway / Found

12/6, 580 Main St., Resident male in-house, said underage son was missing, last seen leaving friend's house in Manhattan. Subsequently NYPD in Manhattan phoned they had 2 boys in house.

Noise Complaint

12/14, 546 Main St., Female resident in-house complained about noise emanating from neighbor's apartment around 1:00 a.m. and that tenant plays music loudly 24 hours a day. Officer responded, went to said apartment, no reply and he did not hear any music.

Property Damage

12/14, street, 645 Main St., Resident in-house, stated that upon arriving at scene, he noticed that his vehicle had dent the size of baseball on door's right side. Victim refused NYPD.

Protection-Order Violation

12/3, 510 Main St., Officer responded to scene where female phoned PSD, said ex-boyfriend violated order of protection. NYPD responded, confirmed order of protection in place. Detectives will follow up.

Runaway

12/11, 200 W. 54th St., off-Island, Female phoned PSD, said her son was missing. Officers searched 560 Main 4th and 7th floors, located underage youth on 4th floor. He was released to mother.

Smoke Condition

12/6, 540 Main St., Officer responded to smoke alarm caused by faulty ballast. There was strong burning smell. RIHM administrative personnel at scene.

12/12, 546 Main St., Officer smelled something burning, responded to Senior Center, where it was full of smoke. Social worker stated it was emanating from faulty heater. Officer turned it off, opened windows. RIHM employee taped heater so it could not be used. There were no injuries, damage incurred.

12/13, 580 Main St., Officer responded to fire alarm at 19th floor. Other officers responded as well, with fire extinguishers. Resident said she'd been cooking, which burned. Hallway windows were opened to dissipate the smoke. FDNY, EMS refused, there were no injuries.

Theft of Service

12/6, 1 Tram Plaza, Arrest, Officers responded to scene for male refusing to pay fare, apprehended him. Brought him to PSD, where he was arrested, taken to 19 Pct. for processing and transported to central booking.

Unsecured Premises

12/4, 543 Main St., Officer saw that Chapel's side door was ajar. Female resident, who is a helper, at scene. Officers searched premises for person(s) with negative results. Rear doors were also unsecured, side and back doors secured.

Vehicle Accident

12/4, 645 Main St., Officer was driving southbound in Cushman in f/o PS 217 when a car pulled out of parking space and struck Cushman, which sustained dented right door and front 1/4 panel. Taurus had damaged left front bumper and left headlight. NYPD prepared report. No one sustained injuries.

Water Leak

12/4, 546 Main St., Officer responded to apartment with RIHM service personnel for water leak report, which was emanating from toilet tank. Officer noticed that apartment was a fire hazard, piles of newspapers in every room. Senior Citizens' social worker notified, who said she was aware of situation and on 12/6 a cleaning company would clean apartment.

December 16-31, 2000

Robbery

12/24, street, 625 Main St., Armed. Male livery driver informed officer he had picked up in Manhattan, 34th St., two males and one female, drove them to Jersey City, then to Roosevelt Island, where they requested he stop at ATM. One male brandished knife and robbed him of US$300 and both males fled down breezeway. Officers searched area with negative results. Spoke with security guard at 2/4 River Road, who stated two males had entered building and had gone to the 8th floor. Officers searched area with negative results. NYPD responded, prepared report. Victim was not hurt.

Trespass

12/19, 560 Main St., Officers conducted search for disorderly youths in lobby. Saw one underage youth, apprehended him; another fled. He was issued a Juvenile Report and released to grandmother.

12/27, 4th floor hall, 560 Main St., Arrest (2). While conducting vertical patrol, officers observed several males in hall, they were asked to leave area. No one complied. As they attempted to place the two in custody, perp #2 became boisterous and disturbed residents of building. The two perps were brought to PSD, perp #1 was issued C summons for trespass, #2 was issued a C summons for trespass and another for disorderly conduct.

12/28, D 4-7, 510 Main St., Arrest (2). Officer saw two males sitting down on stairs smoking a substance. When officer approached them, they ran. Reporting officer and other units gave chase, caught them, escorted them to PSD. They were each issued a C summons for trespassing and disorderly conduct.

Criminal mischief

12/18, 560 Main St., Officer responded to hall in front of apartment where paper had been set on fire. The carpet was damaged. RIHM employee cleaned area and debris.

12/19, lobby, 580 Main St., Officers responded to scene, noticed damaged lock plate. Officer informed RIHM maintenance man, who removed plate. Officers searched area with negative results.

12/23, 5C, 688 Main St., Officer responded to M/G, victim said her vehicle had been struck causing damage to same. Officer found glass and headlight from another car at scene, searched area with negative results. NYPD refused.

Harassment

12/19, 524 to 555/575 Main St, Mother and underage child in-house, the former stated daughter and her friend were harassed by another youth at library. She wanted them to let her use the computer. They left the library and the other youth followed them to apartment, demanded money from them and took money from youth's friend, but returned same when confronted by victim's older sister. Matter will be investigated by Youth Officer.

12/22, 510 Main St., Aggravated. Resident in-house, said she is receiving numerous phone calls from Georgia and requested PSD report. She was referred to Telephone Annoyance Bureau. Victim will go to 114 Pct.

12/27, Deli, subway, 579 Main St. Female resident's mother phoned PSD, said her daughter had a violent incident in front of deli and subway with the father of her son. This is on-going. MTA workers intervened when male perp tried to assault victim. NYPD responded, will prepare harassment report. Victim was advised to seek order of protection.

Larceny

12/19, 540 Main St., Female phoned PSD, reported that a wreath (valued at $32) she had hung on apartment door was missing. Officer searched area with negative results.

12/23, lobby, 580 Main St., Officer responded to lobby. Victim informed him U.S. Post Office personnel informed him they had placed two packages in lobby locker, but they were not there. U.S. Postal Inspectors will investigate matter. Officer checked locker, lock was faulty.

12/27, hall, 4th floor, 580 Main St., Officers responded to scene, victim said he was standing by elevators, when 4 underage unk. youths grabbed food delivery (valued at $4.90), and ran.

Dispute

12/17, 625 Main St., Officer responded to scene between concierge and tenant (latter not at scene), former said tenant was yelling at her over a past incident. NYPD refused.

12/21, 580 Main St., Domestic, Officers responded to scene, resident informed them she had heard arguing emanating from neighbors' apartment and glass breaking. NYPD responded, victim refused report. No injuries reported.

12/24, front of 546 Main St., Verbal. Officer responded to bus #3 , which was stopped at bus stop with left flashers on, for dispute between driver and resident, the latter was in the bus stop. No injuries were incurred. Party #1 did not want EMS, but stated he had been caught in bus's door.

12/29, 559 Main St. Officer responded to scene of dispute between two males over parking space. One driver was issued a traffic summons for double parking.

Found property

12/19, 560 Main St. Resident in-house surrendered to officer a woman's Peugeot quartz watch, which was secured at PSD.

12/25, opposite 500 Main St., Female non-resident in-house, surrendered ring her son had found. Ring secured at PSD.

12/28, 552 Main St. Female non resident in-house, claimed property she had lost on 12/12 at Roosevelt Island subway station. which was secured at PSD, described same, and signed for it.

Investigation

12/18, 580 Main St. Officer responded to apartment for report of two suspicious youths in area and to check for possible tampering. Officer checked door for possible tampering, the top lock was loose but did not appear damaged. Tenant stated she'd contact locksmith. Officer to check area periodically.

12/20, 540 Main St., Male resident in-house, stated he and another tenant had seen tall male at former's apartment trying to gain entry. Victim did not notify PSD until the next day. Officers checked apartment door, found no signs of tampering.

12/21, 546 Main St., Male resident in-house reported his mail box had been broken into, and he had found a torn postcard addressed to him on top of counter. Officer inspected mail box, it looked as if it had been tampered with. Officer called Postal Police, was informed only victim can register complaint. Officer searched area with negative results.

12/22, 546 Main St., RIHM superintendent in-house complaining resident male was interfering with maintenance workers on 8th floor who were making excessive noise, which was permitted. NYPD refused.

12/23, 645 Main St. Resident informed officer that three underage boys had tried to rob him. Stated they were walking behind him, he challenged them, they ran into restaurant. Officer picked up the boys, escorted them to PSD, contacted parents, youths released to them. No property was taken nor injuries incurred.

12/28, 36th Avenue Bridge, off-Island. Male informed officer he was walking across the bridge when he saw a female sitting on steps in middle of the bridge. Officers responded, conducted a thorough search of the entire bridge with negative results.

12/29, 546 Main St., Male in-house said he'd found his mail box door open, which is ongoing. Officer could not determine if marks on mail box were new or old (see 12/21 incident.) P.O. supervisor will refer matter to U.S. Postal Inspector.

12/31, 580 Main St. Officer responded to apartment, where victim stated her UPS parcel had been left with neighbor. Officer rang bell of neighbor, daughter answered, parcel was not in apartment. The latter stated perhaps it was in her father's locked bedroom. Daughter said she would inform her father. Victim refused NYPD.

Lost property

12/22, 5A, 688 Main St. Female resident phoned PSD from M/G, said her purse was missing. Officer searched area with negative results. Purse contained US$60 and several credit cards, misc. other items. Victim escorted to her apartment.

12/31, sidewalk, 645 Main St., Male informed officer he'd lost Sprint cellular phone valued at$220, he did not know serial number. Officer advised him to contact phone company. He would report it to 114 Pct. Area seached with negative results.

12/31, 543-549 Main Street. Male informed officer he had been playing in snow, when he dropped a 2-way pager. Victim tried to call pager number with PSD with negative results. NYPD refused.

Missing property

11/17, 10 River Rd. Female resident phoned PSD, stated she had arrived home and saw that fairly expensive wreath was missing from her apartment door. NYPD refused.

Recovered property

12/18, Levittown Mall, NY. Female recovered purse that had been lost on Long Island mall, was turned in at PSD, where it was secured, and signed for same.

Smoke condition

12/18, 510 Main St. Officer responded to scene for smoke condition. RIHM super said he'd entered apartment where another employee said there were candles burning on table, they extinguished the fire. Door was secured.

12/30, 4th floor, 540 Main St. Officers, FDNY responded to scene, with negative results for smoke condition.

Trespassing

12/18, 540 Main St. Arrest, Officers responded to stairwell J-13 for report of male sleeping at scene, male was brought to PSD, issued a C summons. NYPD responded, escorted male to Homeless Outreach.

Vehicle accident

12/28, 40 River Rd., Bus driver (#3) radioed central, reported an accident. Officers responded, bus driver said he had pulled up too close to parked vehicle at bus stop going north. Car got caught in rear bumper of bus and severed bumper. NYPD responded, prepared report, left accident-information slip under windshield.
