Former Mayor David Dinkins and Assemblymember Pete Grannis were Principals for a Day at PS/IS 217 last week. At this breakfast meeting in the school library, topics included the Littleton, Colorado school shootings, the satisfactions and difficulties of public service, and race relations. The former Mayor met his namesake, Island resident and PS/IS 217 student David Dinkins, and autographed some books for him. The event was sponsored by the PTA.
